A New Day in the Studio


Bookbinding...so glad to back in the Studio after many months of distraction. However here is my first effort which has been gestating for some years now.


'Fafard' an artists book - edition of 5

Joe Fafard is a Canadian sculptor who has done many series but he is particularly known for his animal series, especially horses. I have had a little flip book put out by the MacLaren Art Centre about a project Joe did on a farm in Barrie  in 1996 languishing in the gestation file.

When at the Post Office recently I noticed the stamp issue  for Fafard, so I picked it up. I revisited the flip book 'Against the Grain' and decided on a coptic bound artists' book to incorporate both, an homage to Joe Fafard.


'Against the Grain' is one of the most interesting outdoor installation art pieces conceived & done in Canada  in my opinion. A year long project it shows the prairie world and the horse in all seasons.
